Kinship Worldview

The full expression of the emergent paradigm of this Inquiry is documented in the Worldview Chart (see below) by Four Arrows. (For an explanation of emergent paradigm see ‘Two Loops’ Model.)

Key themes in this paradigm are biocentrism (and sometimes animism) replacing anthropocentrism, regeneration replacing extraction, networks replacing hierarchies, connection replacing separation, love, empathy and community replacing division, prioritisation of self gain and competition.

For some this incorporates spiritual elements and recognition of alternative forms of consciousness and knowing. Significantly this worldview recognises humans as part of nature rather than superior to it, with responsibilities to the Earth and each other. It prioritises embodied heart wisdom integrated with intellect.

This paradigm is not new and has been expressed with many names and variations. It shares some similarities (and also key differences) with Deep Ecology, Spiritual ecology, Ecospirituality, Ecophilosophy/Ecosophy, The Work That Reconnects, Ecosomatics and Emergence.
